To use and convert .ASE files using the ASE tools, you must know how to use the cmd.exe. It has many different names on different languages so i can't really explain the name that further. So, let's start shall we?
1. We must start out somewhere. Download rvtmod7
right here.
When you open the rvtmod7.zip it should look much like below.
2. Select the 2 files ase2w.exe & ase2prm.exe right-click and copy (Ctrl+C). Open drive (C:) and find one of the following folders:
Vista Users: "Users"
XP or below: "Documents And Settings"
Now in that folder, you will find a folder with your name on it. Open it and right-click and paste (Ctrl+V).
ase2w.exe and ase2prm.exe should now be right in there.
3. Now find your .ASE files and drag them to the same folder. Now do one of the following things:
Vista Users: Press the start menu and type cmd in the search bar and press enter.
Xp or below: Press the start menu and open Run. write cmd and press enter.
A new black window comes up, hopefully looking very much like below.
4. This time it is becomming a little hard. You need to know what which switch you used for your SG Properties. If you did
apply SG Properties on your mesh,
to find out what switch to use.
If you didn't use any SG Properties or dont know what that is at all, then don't worry, we pass that then. People usually use
the -m switch for both of the .exe programs, so that's what we are going to do. Write the following into the cmd window:
5. And now for the last step. This step is probaly one of the most easiest. Now, are you ready? Press Enter.
You will see alot of text comming up. But after a few seconds the last 3 lines should say:
"Writing Test.ncp"
"Writing Test.I-w"*
"Writing Test.w"*
*= Depends on if you choosed to use ase2prm or ase2w
Thanks for reading!
